A 4 man ensemble, armed with one mic, the Splinters will have you entertained from their first note until their last encore.
For over twenty years they’ve grazed many stages with different faces but always have had that hard driving, North Carolina style of Bluegrass.
Individually they are Splinters, but together they are Hotwax & the Splinters.
Clyde Lewis, Thomasville, NC
Clyde is one of the Original Splinters. He contributes with Lead Vocals and Mandolin. Steep in rich Bluegrass roots, it’s easy to see he Loves what he does from the songs that he writes for Hotwax. Often referred to as a Mother Shucker, what he lacks in musical talent he more than makes up for with his stage presence. Nothing but pure energy and total enjoyment 100% of the show.
Jeff Rumsey, Colfax, NC
A 2nd generation Splinter, he keeps that thumping beat on the Doghouse Bass like nobody else in the business. His “stay at home” style is always spot on and you just never know what funny comment he’s ready to lay on ya! Helping out on Vocals on most tunes, he’s truly a blessing to have in the band. The only thing that he loves more than Bluegrass is his God, his family, & especially those grandchildren!
Ryan Lambert, Thomasville, NC
“Ryno” has one of the strongest Vocals in Bluegrass and by far one of the Best Flat Pickers in grass today. He comes from a strong musically talented family and has been knee deep in it since he was little! His dedication to making a song sound great is unparalleled. We can’t forget to mention that Beard of his. Some say that is where his “Special Powers” come from.
Ettore Buzzini, Mooresville, NC
This year, 2023, Hotwax has been lucky enough to recruit this 15 year old, phenomenal banjo picker. It’s only a matter of time before he’s on the road with one of the major Bluegrass bands, but the Splinters are enjoying every second of every show that they get to have him. Multi-Talented, he plays most every instrument and plays them all very well. He’s actually been stepping up the Splinters’ game on the 3 part harmony! A young man with wealth of music knowledge!
